the THAXTON
1009 Olive St.

History

The Thaxton was constructed in 1928 as a store by the architect firm
of Klipstein & Rathmann, celebrated for their versatility in a wide
variety of picturesque classical and modern styles
from 1908 until the mid 1940's.

The firm is best known for its close association with
Anheuser-Busch resulting in the
Bevo building at the A.B. Brewery,
the
Bauernhof stable complex at the Busch suburban estate,
the
Bevo Mill, Gretchen's Inn, and the most notable contribution
to the city's skyline, the
Civil Courts Building.
